Who We Are

The Transatlantic Cultural Collective NPC was established to create sustainable cultural infrastructure that supports artists while preserving and celebrating South Africa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

We believe culture is not simply entertainment—it is a powerful tool for education, social cohesion, economic opportunity, identity, and community wellbeing.

Through our programmes, we connect local communities with global networks while ensuring that cultural knowledge remains rooted in the people and places from which it originates.

TRANSATLANTIC CULTURAL HOUSE

Cape Town’s Home for Culture, Creativity and Community

Located in Salt River, the Transatlantic Cultural House serves as the physical home of the Transatlantic Cultural Collective.

The House was established as a social-impact investment and community cultural hub where artists, residents, visitors, students, and community members can connect through creativity and shared experiences.

THE PIANO

The Heart of the House

At the centre of the Transatlantic Cultural House stands an extraordinary instrument — a Shigeru Kawai Baby Grand Piano.

More than simply a musical instrument, the piano represents the spirit of generosity, collaboration, and artistic excellence upon which the House is built.

For the opening of the Transatlantic Cultural House on 16 June 2026, the piano was graciously made available through the support of Ian Burgess, whose generosity has enabled artists, students, and audiences to experience music at the highest level within this intimate community space.

About the Instrument

Shigeru Kawai Baby Grand

Widely regarded as one of the world’s finest handcrafted pianos, Shigeru Kawai instruments are celebrated for their exceptional tone, responsiveness, and craftsmanship.

Each instrument is individually crafted by Master Piano Artisans in Japan and is designed to inspire musicians at every level, from students to internationally acclaimed performers.

A Gift to the Community
